A reclaimed, cast iron, Victorian bedroom fire insert dating to C.1890s. The fire insert has a pretty design, typical of the era, with decorative arched repeating borders. The fire insert has shaped front bars and top plate with a pretty sun design. Please note the insert has an ashpan cover that is not original and has been handmade using tin. There are gaps when it is placed up to the front bars. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish. The insert is designed to be paired with a fire surround. We have a pine surround that could be paired with the insert, available for sale separately and on a first come first served basis. The fire insert has been photographed with the surround for illustrative details (last picture) but the surround is SOLD SEPERATELY and NOT included in the insert price. The fire insert is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected of antique items. The iron has some casting marks and pitting. The fire brick has some knocks and there are gaps around it and it will need some sealant. There are some small gaps around the smoke flap. The back has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire insert is a lovely Victorian item that would add period charm to a fireplace.
