Code: FS0270
Dimensions:
A large, reclaimed, Victorian cast iron fire surround. The "Rotherham" fire surround has an elegant and ornate design with recessed panels along the crossbar and circular flower motifs. The legs have a column style design with acanthus leaves and flowers at the top and fluting that runs down the legs. The cast iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish. The surround has a kite dating mark on the back and the E on the right hand side dates the fire to 1881. The surround is of a large size, ideal for a reception room and could be paired with a fire basket or used around a wood burner. The surround is in good antique condition with some signs of age, as expected. The iron has some casting marks and pitting. There are some small knocks and scuffs. The back has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is a wonderful example of Victorian design and it would make a fantastic period feature in a home.
