An elegant, reclaimed, oak Art Nouveau fire surround. The surround is of a good size and has a very nice design with dentil moulding along the bottom of the crossbar and grooved detailing around the sides and front edge of the mantel. There are corbels under the mantel and the legs have an ionic column design. The oak has a nice colour and the grain of the wood is very attractive. The oak appears to have been varnished. The surround is in good solid condition with some signs of use and some light damage, as expected. The oak has some splits, knocks and cracks and there is a crack to one of the corbels. There are some scuffs and chips. The top section of the mantel is lifting slightly at the front corners. There are some holes and scratches along the mantel. The back edge of the mantel has residue concrete along it. The sides of the feet have some residue paint and concrete and some marks from where it was previously fitted. There is a split and some damage to the left hand side of the surround, under the mantel. There is some paint residue in places. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a very nice look and it would make a very nice period feature in a home.
