Code: FS0272
Dimensions:
A very elegant, reclaimed, Edwardian cast iron fire surround. The fire surround has a very pretty design, typical of the era, with delicate detailing on the crossbar featuring bows, swags and medallions. The legs have fan shapes and flowers. The mantel front edges are nicely shaped. The back of the fire surround has a registered design number, believed to be RD408518, dating the fire to 1902. The cast iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish. There is a fixing lug, on either side under the mantel, for attaching the fire to the wall. The surround is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of use and age, as expected. The surround has casting marks, some rougher surface areas and pitting, especially to the feet. The iron has some knocks and chips. The back of the surround has surface rust, as expected. The edges of the legs have some very slight patches of surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is of a nice size and could be paired with a wood burner or a fire basket. The fire surround would make a very nice addition to a fireplace.
