A very elegant reclaimed cast iron fire surround dating to the Edwardian period. The fire surround has a very ornate design with swags, bows and flowers along the crossbar and the legs have flowers running down them. There is fluted detailing on either side of the crossbar and there is a decorative repeating border under the mantel. The mantel has moulded side and front edges. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish. There is a fixing lug on either side, under the mantel, and there is a fixing lug on the right leg (when looking at the surround) but the left leg's lug is broken. The fire surround should, however, be able to be fixed fairly well using the 3 remaining lugs.

The surround is in good antique condition with some signs of use and age, as expected. The iron has some pitting and casting marks. The mantel screws do not sit totally flush with the mantel and are sunken slightly. The back of the surround has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is of a nice size and could be paired with a wood burner or a fire basket. The fire surround would make a fantastic period feature for a fireplace and its ornate design is very desirable.
