A very attractive, reclaimed, Victorian stripped pine door fitted with stunning stained glass. The door, likely to date to C.1890 is of a good quality and has elegant gunstock stiles. The door has two recessed panels at the base. with decorative beading around them and the top of the door has two large panels fitted with very nice stained glass. Each stained glass panel has a shield design in the centre and lovely roundels in differing colours above and below. The shields and roundels are surrounded by pale stained glass and blue and red border glass. The door has been stripped but there is some residue paint and some stains and purchaser may wish to give the door a further sand. The door has a lock and keys for it. The door is more ideally suited to internal use but could be used externally if the door is adapted for external use. At present the glass is not suitable for external use and if the door is to be used externally we would STRONGLY advise that toughened glass panels are added to the front of the stained glass. We can provide this service and make the door suitable for exterior use, for an extra charge. Please contact us for details and a quote.
The door is a reclaimed antique and has some signs of wear and some damage, as expected. The door has had an extended base rail added to the base to raise the height. The door has some holes and marks from hardware removal and further hardware holes have been patch repaired. The pine has some knocks and some surface cracks. There is some staining and residue paint visible. The glass has some movement within the door and there are some gaps between the outer lead and the door. There have been some nails added to help keep the glass in place. The glass has some striations and imperfections and there is some residue paint on the glass. Some of the joints have slight separation and one has had some filler applied to it. The door height may need slight levelling. Please see pictures for condition details. The door has a very beautiful appearance and the stained glass is unusual and very desirable. The door would make a stunning feature in a home.
