A very large and elegant, reclaimed, Victorian pine front door for glazing. The door has a very fine design and is of a good quality, with mortise and tenon joints. The door has six square raised and fielded panels at the base and above this two large panels for glazing, with the top and bottom of each panel elegantly shaped. Above the larger panels for glazing are four small square panels and four panels with arched tops for glazing. We can glaze the door for an extra charge, please contact us to discuss your requirements and for a quote. The door has been hand stripped, with the exception of the sides that are currently still painted. Purchaser will need to repaint the door to suit. The door has retained its original brass letterplate that has been polished and has a good finish. The door currently has thin hinge slots on one side but we could patch repair them for an extra charge if you would prefer the door to be hung on the other side. Please contact us for a quote.
The door is in good, solid, reclaimed condition with some signs of wear and damage commensurate with age. The pine has some surface cracks and splits. One larger split has had some 2 pack filler applied to it. There are some holes and marks where door hardware has been removed and one hole has been patch repaired. There are some knocks and chips to the edges and corners and some splintering and knocks throughout. The door has some evidence of woodworm that has now been treated. Two of the square panels at the base of the door have been replaced as they were damaged. The edges of the letterbox space are uneven with some light damage. The pine has some discolouration and staining. Please see pictures for condition details.
The front door is of a very fine Victorian design and is of an impressive size. Once glazed and painted the door will be a stunning feature for a home.
