A set of four tall, reclaimed, mid Victorian painted pine bifold room dividers. The dividers are very well made, with mortise and tenon joints and have a traditional appearance, each with a recessed panel at the base with mouldings and a large panel ready for glazing. We can glaze the dividers for an extra charge, please contact us to discuss your requirements and for a quote. The panels don't currently have a pine glazing bead but this can be provided if we glaze the dividers. There is a decorative metal pull handle on each side of one section and there is an escutcheon on one face. The dividers are the perfect size for a large room or perhaps for other interior projects such as very large cupboard doors. The dividers comprise of four sections, that are designed to open in the centre, with two on each side that are to be hinged together. The dividers have rebated edges so they sit nicely together. The dividers appear to have been all screwed together at some point but the dividers are now all separated. The outer edges have parliament hinges but one is broken and the smaller hinges for joining one to another may need replacing. The dividers have been painted but the paint has cracking, chips and marks and purchaser will need to sand and re-paint the dividers to suit. The room dividers are in good, solid, condition with some signs of wear and age, as expected of antique items. The dividers have some knocks, chips and splinters. Some hinges may need replacing as they have some breaks and surface rust and some are slightly misshapen. The divider heights may need slight levelling. The door handles and escutcheon have some surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The room dividers have a very elegant appearance and are ideal for a period home. It is very rare to find dividers of this size and they are very desirable and would make a great statement in a home.
