A Georgian or Neo-Georgian Cast Iron Fire Front and Decorative Cheeks

SOLD

Code: FI0015

Dimensions:

W: 116cm (45.7")H: 97cm (38.2")

A very rare and attractive fire front and two curved fire cheeks with hobgrates. The fire is either Georgian or Neo-Georigian and its style reflects this. The fire has a thin linear design running vertically down the whole front. Each corner has a circle with a cast design of classical figures. The fire has fine beaded borders. The cheeks are large and sturdy and have an attractive curved shape. The cheeks have pretty bow details and further beaded borders. The cheeks stand proud from the wall and have low hobgrates, originally used either for brandy glasses or for warming drinks. The iron has been blacked and polished to give an attractive finish. The items are in good useable condition and would need to be paired with an 18" fire brick. We can supply a fire brick for an additional charge, please contact us for a quote. The set is antique and therefore has some slight signs of use and wear. The small ash pan cover is new and has been made for the fire front. Small marks, scratches and signs of age can be seen. The backs have some surface rust and filler as expected. A beautiful and interesting fire set with a great deal of character that would be perfect for a period home.
