A pretty, late Victorian, cast iron bedroom fire insert with a reclaimed pine fire surround. The insert has an attractive design with an arched flower border. The original fire brick has a roped design and the original front bars have an attractive shape and round finials. The grill is present. The top plate is not original and has been replaced with a newer metal plate. The iron has been blacked and polished and has an attractive finish. The back of the fire has an RD number, RD187869, dating the fire to 1892. The insert has been paired with a reclaimed, pine, fire surround with a simple and classic design that compliments the decorative insert. The surround is currently bare wood but purchaser could apply a wood polish or paint if preferred. The fire is in very good, original condition and could be used in a reception room or for decorative purposes in a bedroom. Due to age there are some slight signs of use and character marks. The pine frame has some slight surface cracks, knocks and holes. The insert has some small marks and scratches. There is a slight heat bulge to the left fire cheek. The back has surface rust as expected. The fire is a very pretty item that would look fantastic in a period home.
