SOLD

Code: FC0042

Dimensions:

W: 101.5cm (40")H: 117cm (46.1")

An interesting cast iron combination fire that is of a good size for use in a living or dining room. The fire appears to be a combination of Victorian and Edwardian design, with the body of the fire dating to the late Victorian period and the smoke hood and front bars Edwardian. The body of the fire has the registered design number RD264369 which confirms the date of 1895. The smoke hood is a slightly later edition as the domed design is typical of the Edwardian era. The smoke bars have also been replaced. The fixing lugs are present. The fire is solid and heavy and has an attractive design. The body of the fire has a heavy border with a decorative border surrounding the fire opening. The cross bar features decorative scrolls and the fire back has a sun motif above the concrete fire back. The mantel is solid and chunky. The iron has been blacked and polished and the fire has a lovely finish. The fire is antique and therefore has some slight signs of age. The back has surface rust as expected. There are some light scratches and knocks and some casting marks can be seen. A handsome fire that has a great deal of period charm, perfect for adding character to a home
