FS0059 VERY LARGE VICTORIAN CAST IRON FIRE SURROUND WITH PINE MANTEL

A very large elegant Victorian cast iron fire surround with a pine mantel. The fire has a classic style design with raised mouldings cast in to the cross bar and shield motifs in each corner. The iron has been burnished and lacquered giving the fire a lovely silvery finish. The surround has had a replacement mantel added, made of pine and sprayed black to compliment the fire. The surround is very large and would be ideal for a large hearth in a living or dining room. There are two wide fixing loops on the back of the fire for tying to the wall. The fire has an RD number on the back, RD280311, that dates the fire to 1896. The fire is solid and very well made but as the item is antique there are a few small signs of use and wear. There are some light patches of surface rust that can be seen to the front face as the fire has been burnished rather than blacked and polished. There is some slight mottling and colour variations that add character to the fire. The back has surface rust as expected. The fire has an abundance of style and is a wonderful example of Victorian design, perfect for a larger reception room or perhaps a business.
