A petite cast iron Georgian fire insert ideal for a bedroom or small reception room. The insert is of a simple and classic design with a repeating circle border around the arched fire opening. The fire has curved front bars and a beautiful decorative piece below with cast acanthus leaves. The fire has a decorative motif inside, above the grill. The insert has small warming plates on either side of the grill, traditional to Georgian fires, that were used to warm small cups or to place glasses on. The fire has a solid concrete back and grill for burning. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a rich colour and finish. The back of the fire insert is placed within the chimney breast or opening and the insert can be paired with a fire surround. The back of the fire has a large top plate with FALKIRK written on it, referring to where the fire was made. There are several numbers on the fire but no registered date mark. The fire is in good condition but has had some wear due to age. The front of the fire has some very small casting marks and scratches. The back has surface rust as expected. The top plate does not fit particularly well and there is a slight gap between the fire and the top plate. The fire insert has a classic design that would be ideal for a period property and would work well with many types of fire surround.
