The curved cheeks have a shell and flower design. The item has a modest, shelf type, mantel that is shaped at the back. The iron has been blacked and polished giving the fire a rich finish. The curved fire cheeks are integrated and were designed to sit within a large fire making the item ideal for a larger reception room. The fire insert is ideally paired with a fire register, as seen in the photographs. PLEASE NOTE the register is for illustrative purposes and SOLD SEPERATLEY. The back of the fire has an RD number, RD499151, dating the fire to 1900-1909. The set is antique and therefore has some slight signs of use and wear. Small marks, scratches and signs of age can be seen. There are some slight patches of rust to the fire front, some casting marks and wear, especially to the feet. The back has some surface rust as expected. A beautiful, rare and interesting fire with a great deal of character, ideal for a period home.
