FS0064 A VICTORIAN CAST IRON FIRE INSERT AND RECLAIMED PINE SURROUND

A petite cast iron Victorian fire insert and pine fire surround, ideal for a bedroom or small reception room. The insert is of a simple and classic design with a repeating border around the arched fire opening. The fire has curved front bars and original top plate with a decorative motif. The fire has the concrete back intact and grill for burning. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a rich colour and finish. There is a registered design kite mark on the back of the fire that dates it to 15th September 1869. The insert is paired with a fire surround made of old reclaimed pine. The surround is a classic design with two small moldings at the top of the legs. The pine is stripped and ready for finishing by purchaser with a wax, oil or paint. The surround is in good condition but has some signs of wear as expected of antique items. The insert does have a crack to the right hand fire cheek and therefore may be best suited to light or decorative use. The surround has some surface cracks and patch repairs. The back of the insert has surface rust. The fire insert and surround have a classic look that is ideal for a period property and would add character and charm to a bedroom.
