FC0051 A DECORATIVE EDWARDIAN CAST IRON COMBINATION FIREPLACE

SOLD

Code: FC0051

Dimensions:

W: 76cm (29.9")H: 98cm (38.6")

A very pretty Edwardian cast iron combination bedroom fire. The fire has a lovely design with pretty flowers set in to circles under the mantel and on the legs. The fire has a deep border around the opening and the smoke hood has a design typical of the era. The fire retains its original, shaped front bars and the concrete fire back is in excellent order. The fire has a beautiful burnished and lacquered finish, giving the fire an attractive and desirable silvery colour. The fire has an RD number on the reverse, RD 421111, dating the fire to 1900-1909. The fire is of a good size, perfect for a bedroom or small dining or living room. The fire is antique and therefore has some slight damage and signs of wear. The fire has some cracks on either side under the mantel, please see pictures for details, however the fire is solid and stable. The back edge of the mantel has a chip but it will not be particularly noticeable when attached to the wall. There are some slight marks, scratches and light tarnish. The back has surface rust as expected. The fires attractive design and beautiful silver finish would be wonderful in a period home, adding great character and interest to a hearth.
