A very pretty, petite, cast iron, Victorian combination fireplace. The fire is the perfect size for a bedroom or smaller reception room. The fire has a very pretty domed smoke hood with a leaf design. The cross bar and legs have very ornate, Adam style, flower, urn and swag detailing, in a design typical of the era. The smoke flap has a decorative pattern and the fire has the original shaped front bars and both fixing lugs. The back has a 5 digit Registered Design number that we believe to be RD58060, dating the fire to 1886. The fire also has the design name "The Primrose" on the back. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a rich colour and nice finish. The fire is in very good condition but has had some repaired damage and slight signs of wear, consistent with age. The back has surface rust as expected. There are some marks and scratches. The smoke flap has had a repaired break which can be seen but is not too noticeable. Suitable for a bedroom and ideal for a period property, the fire is a very desirable item. A fine example of Victorian design.
