FS0085 AN ORNATE VICTORIAN CAST IRON FIRE SURROUND FOR WOOD BURNER

A very beautiful, ornate, Victorian cast iron fire surround of an ideal size for a living room or dining room. The fire has a fantastic design with acanthus leaves and fruit in the Adam Style, typical of the era, and the main patterned area stands out from the body of the fire. The centre of the cross bar has an eye style motif surrounded by petals. There are heavy border patterns under the mantel and delicate crosses on the legs with small flowers. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The surround can be paired with a fire basket or wood burner. The original lugs are present on each side of the fire. The fire surround is in very good condition but is antique and therefore has some slight signs of use and wear. There are some casting marks, pitting and scratches visible and some small scuffs to the base of the feet. The back has surface rust as expected. The fire surround's ornate and elegant style would make it ideal for a period home and is a desirable and interesting item.
