FC0065 AN ATTRACTIVE VICTORIAN CAST IRON COMBINATION FIRE

An elegant, classic style, Victorian cast iron combination fireplace of an ideal size for a bedroom or smaller reception room. The fire has an attractive smoke hood with waved line design. The fire has plain borders around the rectangular opening and there is a decorative scrolled design above the concrete fire back. The fire has retained its original shaped front bars. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The fire does have a registered design number but it is covered with concrete. The number appears to start with a 26 and the fire is likely to date to 1895. The fire is in good antique condition with some light signs of use and wear. The fire has some casting marks and scratches and there is a casting line or crack on the left hand side of the crossbar. One fixing lug is broken. The back has surface rust as expected. Suitable for a bedroom and ideal for a period property, the fire is a very pretty and desirable item. A fine example of Victorian design.
