A very large and heavy reclaimed reproduction cast iron fire back with a swans nest fire basket and fire dogs. The impressive fire back has an attractive design, in a period style, with a cast lion, rose, crown and thistle and the top is shaped. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a quality finish. The fire back is paired with a traditional style swans nest fire basket for logs. The basket has legs, however the set includes fire dogs as the heavy fire back rests on these. The fire dogs have a simple and classical style with ball finials. The fire back is a very heavy item weighing approximately 50kg. Please ensure that you have a suitable vehicle and enough people to transport the item on collection. The fire back, basket and fire dogs are reclaimed and have some slight signs of wear. The fire basket does have a damaged strap at the back from heat. There are some small scratches and marks and the back of the fire back and underside of the basket has some surface rust. The fire back and basket would be ideal for use in a large hearth, perhaps in a living room or dining room and its traditional style design is perfect for a period home.
