FI0043 PRETTY RECLAIMED VICTORIAN CAST IRON FIRE INSERT/BRICK/STOOL

A classic style large cast iron fire insert with fire stool and fire brick, dating to the early Victorian period. The fire is a deep horseshoe shape and has a large arched opening which is finely decorated with repeating leaf borders. The fire has the original, curved, decorative front bars. The iron has been blacked and polished to give an attractive finish. There is a registered design kite mark on the back of the fire. The mark is faded and cant be read but the fire dates to pre 1884 when the dating system changed. The fire insert comes with a new 15" fire brick that has been sprayed black with a heat proof paint. If you have an existing fire brick it will need to be the same size as the 15" brick to fit with the insert. An antique fire stool sits between the insert and the brick. The insert and brick are designed to fit into the wall cavity and purchaser can finish the fire with a fire surround if desired. If you require advice on fitting the fire please call us. The fire is in good reclaimed condition with some slight signs of age and wear. There is a light line or crease above the decorative border. There are some small scratches and marks. The fire back and underside of the stool have some surface rust. The fire is a lovely example of Victorian design and is of a good size for a living or dining room. A very pretty and desirable piece that has a classic design, suited to both period and modern properties.
