A very pretty Victorian cast iron fire insert and pine fire surround of an ideal size for a bedroom or reception room. The insert has a lovely design with a flower border around the fire opening and the same flower on the top plate. The insert has the original, shaped, front bars and has a concrete fire back. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a nice colour and finish. The insert is paired with a simple pine fire surround made using old, reclaimed, pine. The surround has a classic design with plain mantel, moulded detailing at the top of the legs and chunky feet. The wood has been stripped and is ready for finishing by purchaser. The insert is antique and the surround made using reclaimed wood and therefore both have some wear and rustic features. The iron has some scratches and marks. There are some small surface cracks to the fire brick. The back has surface rust as expected. The surround has some filled wood knots, marks and scratches. There is a knock to the lower edge of the crossbar leaving some damage. There is a small crack to the base of one leg and some knocks to the base edges. The fire has some visible nail holes. There are some stains and marks to the wood and therefore the surround may be best suited to a paint finish. The fire is a lovely example of Victorian design and the insert and surround have a look that is ideal for a period property, adding character and charm to a home.
