A very pretty antique cast iron fire insert paired with a Georgian style pine fire surround. The small cast insert is original, perhaps early Victorian or late Georgian and is a very pretty example of design of the era. The insert has a simple moulded detailing around the fire opening and there are acanthus leaves at the top of the opening. The insert retains the original front bars with the same acanthus leaf design and 3 finials. The pine fire surround is a reclaimed reproduction of a Georgian surround. The legs and crossbar have reeded detailing and there are circular motifs in each corner. The pine has been primed and undercoated ready for finishing by purchaser. Please note there is a slight gap between the inside of the fire surround and the edges of the fire insert, please see pictures for details. The fire is antique and therefore has some slight signs of wear and age but it is in very good overall condition. The back has surface rust as expected. There are some small scratches and marks to the iron from age. There are some small knocks and chips to the pine surround. The fire has a stunning appearance and would make a wonderful statement within a period home.
