A very pretty, reclaimed, cast iron combination fireplace that is of the ideal size for a bedroom. The fire does not have a registered design dating number but dates to approximately C.1900. The fire has a very attractive sunflower design with 3 sunflowers forming the main design above the fire opening. Each of the top corners have smaller flowers and in-between the flower sections there are intricate designs. The fire has a canopy style smoke hood with an ornate edge and it has front bars although we believe these may be antique replacements from a similar era and not original to the fire. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The fire brick has the makers stamp but unfortunately it is hard to read, however it appears the company was founded in 1753. The fire is in good condition but has some signs of age and use, as expected of antique items. The back has surface rust. There are some casting marks and pitting and some small scratches and knocks. One fixing lug has been broken and has a metal replacement. The smoke flap has been replaced with a thinner metal flap. The fire has a very attractive appearance that is ideal for a period home and has great character and charm.
