A large handsome and highly decorative reclaimed Victorian cast iron combination fireplace of the ideal size for a living or dining room. The fire is solid and very well made and has an attractive design, typical of the era, with large fern detailing on each side of the cross bar. The centre of the cross bar has scrolling and circular details and there are large leaf designs forming a border around the fire opening. The fire retains the original decorative front bars and there are fixing lugs on either side of the fire for attaching it to the wall. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The combination fire is in good condition but has some signs of age and damage, as expected of antique items. The fire has had a break to the back of the mantel that has been repaired using a metal plate underneath the mantel to secure it. Some small cracks can be seen at the back of the mantel where it has been repaired. The right hand fixing lug has been repaired or replaced. The back has surface rust as expected. There are some casting marks, pitting and some small scratches and knocks. The fire is a fantastic example of Victorian design and is perfect for adding style to a period home.
