A handsome, antique, Edwardian Art Nouveau reclaimed cast iron tiled combination fire. The fire consists of a tiled fire front and top plate that is paired with a cast iron fire stool and a separate 18" fire brick. The fire is of a good size and is ideal for use in a living or dining room. The fire has a very attractive design, typical of the era, with acanthus leaves and a shell on the canopy smoke hood. A particular feature of the fire is the delicate scrolling acanthus leaves below the fixing lugs. The crossbar has a repeating flower design. The fire retains its original, shaped, front bars. On each side of the fire opening there are elegant Art Nouveau tiles with a repeated flower pattern in bright yellows, greens and blues. The cast iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The fire has several small holes around the opening border for fixing screws. The fire is in good condition but has some signs of wear and age, as expected of antique items. The left hand top corner tile has 2 repaired cracks. There are some small chips and scuffs to the tile edges and some crazing to the tile enamel. The tiles have some slight discolouration. The iron has some small casting marks and light scratches and there are some scratches under the mantel. The mantel has extra screws to hold it in place. The back of the fire and the front and back of the top plate have surface rust as expected. The fire is a wonderful example of Art Nouveau design and it would add great character and period charm to a home.
