A decorative, carved, reclaimed stone fire surround. The fire is a vintage reproduction of a Gothic style surround and is perhaps 30-40 years old. It is made using a pale stone with an attractive colour and texture. The fire surround has a delicate carved design with a Gothic style arch and carved border detailing around the fire opening. The corners of the crossbar each have a Tudor rose and leaves that stretch towards the middle of the fire. The surround is of a good size for a living or dining room and is ideal for framing a cast iron insert or fire basket within a hearth. The surround is complete but comes in separate pieces and will need to be fixed to the wall by a qualified builder. The fire is in solid and useable condition, with no major breaks or cracks, however there are some signs of use and some slight damage, as expected of reclaimed items. There are some knocks and chips, especially to the joins and sides of the legs. There is a chip to one of the front corners of the mantel. The legs do have some deep scratches and grazes to the surface of the stone. There is some further damage to the underside of one of the legs but this shouldn't be too noticeable once fitted. There are some light marks and stains from use. No major breaks and the fire is complete. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a fantastic appearance and its Gothic style design would be ideal for period home.
