A very handsome, early Victorian, cast iron fire insert with ash pan cover. The fire has a very unusual square design and the outer edge sits flush with the wall while the fire opening sits within the hearth. The fire has plain borders around the outside edge and fire opening and the front bars have a very interesting design with spiked finials and ball detailing. The fire is paired with a decorative ash pan cover that features acanthus leaves in the centre. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a rich colour and nice finish. The fire is in very good condition but does have some slight signs of age, as expected of antique items. There are some light scratches and marks to the front face of the fire and there is a small notch to the top of the fire opening border. The top plate and back of the fire have some surface rust. The ash pan cover has some slight tarnish. The left hand top corner has a slight bend. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a very unique and interesting look that is both stylish and classic looking, making it ideal for period or modern properties. The insert is a very well made and desirable antique item.
