Solid 11" (279.4mm) wide oak tongue and groove boards. Thickness 22mm. The listing price for the boards is PER SQUARE METRE, please let us know how much is required upon purchase. Price includes Vat. There is 25 SQM available (30 boards) and are sold on a first come, first served basis.

 The oak originates from Normandy from 120 year old oak trees, and some of the boards have been cut from older beams that come into the mill. We have now been buying wood from here for nearly 20 years and the character and quality of the timber is wonderful. We also know where it comes from and is sustainably managed.

 As some of the oak is old about 1/4 of the boards are quarter sawn and therefore has lovely character including pippy oak and medullary rays can be seen. The oak has been season kiln dried but has been stored at the yard since then and so please be aware the moisture content may have risen. The oak has a very attractive colour and character grain and is ready for purchaser to finish as desired.

The oak has tongue and groove to the edges but not the ends. The boards do not have grooves on the back face which does not affect the fit of the boards as long as they are fixed correctly. Without grooves it leaves fitters the option to use either side and turn a board over if it has a knot on one face. The boards can therefore be used for flooring, panelling or to make doors. Please note that some boards do have rougher patches on the back face but this gives purchaser the option to use the rougher side that would then be sanded to create an older look. 

We can offer advice on making the boards look older for a rustic effect. Clients often ask us to rough up the edges and wire brush the boards to give them an aged, reclaimed and rustic feel. We can stain the timber for you if you are after a certain colour and sell a water based stain that we have made at the yard, that gives the boards a warmer, older appearance. One picture illustrates the boards with a darker stain applied.

The boards are very desirable as they are wide and very long and we have 30 boards at between 2.8-3.1 metres, with each board being approx 0.8-0.9 SQM. Two pictures show 3 widths of board stacked, the listing is for the widest board (11") at the bottom of the stack.

Please note re delivery that companies will rarely deliver items over 2.4 metres and therefore delivery may be an issue for the boards, especially if you live a great distance from our address.
