A handsome cast iron fire surround for a range. The fire has an ornate design with cast roundels and a triangular design around them in each corner. The legs and crossbar have raised panels with moulded borders. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a very fine finish. The surround is ideal for pairing with a range or used for decorative purposes. We can remove the feet of the fire, for a small extra charge, to reduce the height whilst still retaining its elegant appearance, please contact us for further details. There is a diamond dating mark at the back of the fire. The mark is hard to read but a D can be seen at the bottom of the diamond, dating the fire to 1878. The fire is a reclaimed antique and has some slight wear and signs of age. The iron has some small casting marks, scratches and knocks. The top of the mantel has some small notches out of it. There is a metal plate attached to the back of the surround with concrete. The back of the fire has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a very attractive and classic design that is ideal for a period home. The fire is very finely cast and its handsome appearance will provide an abundance of charm and style within a home.
