FI0052 A PETITE VICTORIAN CAST IRON BEDROOM FIRE INSERT

A very sweet, small, reclaimed cast iron Victorian fire insert. The fire has a pretty, traditional, period appearance with an arched fire opening surrounded by decorative borders featuring a diamond design and a flower in the top centre. The fire has curved front bars and a top plate with handle. We believe the top plate is a replacement as it is quite large but it is from the same era. The insert does not have a registered design mark but is likely to date to the early to mid Victorian period. The iron has been blacked and polished and it has a nice finish. The fire would be ideal for a smaller bedroom and would probably be most suited for decorative use. The fire insert is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of use and some slight damage, as expected of antique items. The back of the fire insert has some surface rust. The front of the fire has some light scratches, pitting and marks. There are a few small holes in the border around the fire opening. The concrete fire back has knocks and chips to the edges leaving some gaps. The front bars have cracks, one of which has been repaired, but they are stable and solid. Please see pictures for condition details.  The fire insert is a lovely petite item and its pretty Victorian design would be an asset to a hearth.
