FS0145 RECLAIMED VICTORIAN CASRT IRON FIRE SURROUND FOR WOOD BURNER

SOLD

Code: FS0145

Dimensions:

W: 119.1cm (46.9")H: 126.5cm (49.8")

An elegant reclaimed Victorian cast iron fire surround. The fire has a classic, period, design with a panel in the centre of the crossbar with decorative mouldings and a delicate design on either side. There is a simple border around the fire opening. The fire is ideal for surrounding a wood burner or for use with a fire basket and is of a good size for a living or dining room. The iron has been blacked and polished and the fire has a good finish. The fire has a registered design number cast in to the back and the model name "The Cambridge". The RD number, RD203387, dates the fire to 1892. There are two lugs under the mantel for fixing screws. The fire is in good solid condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected of antique items. The original mantel was broken and the fire has been fitted with a good quality replacement. There is some pitting and small casting marks to the front of the fire, especially to the border around the fire opening. There is a small casting mark line or repaired crack under the mantel but the fire is stable and solid. The fixing lugs have rough areas. The back of the fire has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a simple and elegant appearance that would compliment most interiors and is a lovely example of Victorian design.
