FS0159 VERY LARGE ORNATE VICTORIAN RECLAIMED CAST IRON FIRE SURROUND

A very ornate and beautiful, reclaimed, Victorian cast iron fire surround dating to C.1890. The surround is of a very large size and could be paired with a wood burner or large fire basket. The surround is very fine and has a beautiful appearance, in the Adam style, with large designs along the crossbar. The centre has a panel with crossed wheat sheaf's and on each side of the cross bar is a swag and bow design. There is an egg and dart border under the mantel and further borders around the fire opening. The legs have pretty flowers running down them. The iron has been blacked and polished and the fire has a very good finish. The fire surround is in good useable condition but has some signs of use and wear, as expected of reclaimed items. The fire surround has some small knocks and marks. There are some scratches and marks to the top of the mantel. The back has surface rust, as expected. There are thin visible joins / cracks on either side of the crossbar where it meets the semi-circular sections but the fire is very solid and stable. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a fantastic appearance, highlighting the very best of Victorian design. The fire surround is a desireable item that would make a fantastic showpiece within the home.
