Dimensions:
A large and elegant, reclaimed, original late Victorian cast iron fire surround. The surround has a design typical of the period featuring swags, leaves and berries in the centre of the cross bar and small flowers or berries under the mantel. The edges of the mantel have dentil mouldings and there are scrolling designs on each side of the cross bar. The surrounds feet are slightly curved. The fire surround has retained its fixing lugs, one on each side, under the mantel. The surround is of a large size making it ideal for a living or dining room and could be paired with a cast iron fire basket or perhaps for surrounding a wood burner. The fire surround is in good antique condition with some small signs of use and age, as expected. The fire surround has some small casting marks, pitting and some scratches, mainly to the crossbar. The mantel edge and corners have some slight knocks. The back of the surround has surface rust as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is finely cast and a lovely example of Victorian design and it would make a fantastic show piece within the home.
Please note: We have another fire surround of the same size and design available for sale. Please see our reference FS0171 for details.
