A reclaimed, decorative, carved pine fire surround. The surround has a very attractive appearance and is approximately 40 years old with a fantastic period design featuring swags, flowers and leaves that were popular in the Victorian era. There is egg and dart detailing below the mantel and there is a heavy carved border around the fire opening with flowers and leaves. The pine has had a waxed finish at some point and the wood has a nice colour that highlights the natural wood grain. The fire surround could be paired with a cast iron insert or fire basket or used for decorative purposes. The surround has a rebated inner edge that accommodates slate slips. We have paired the surround with new slate slips, included in the listing price. The surround is in good reclaimed condition with some small signs of use and wear. The surround has some small knocks, holes, scratches and chips from use. There is a chip to the side of one foot. The end section of the left hand side of the mantel has dropped slightly at the back. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a very ornate look and is ideal for both period or modern homes and would be a fantastic addition to a fireplace.
