M1591 TWO BEAUTIFUL ETCHED VICTORIAN GLASS PANELS WITH CHERUBS

SOLD

Code: M1591

Two beautiful, reclaimed, original etched glass panels dating to the mid-Victorian era. Each panel has a very finely etched design with cherubs in a central circle doing activities of the period. One cherub is painting and the other using a pair of compasses. The glass panels have ornate period features including Adam style urns at the base of each panel and a bowl of pansies at the top. The panels were originally fitted within doors and they could be used for this purpose again or for other decorative projects. The glass is thick and the etching is of a fine quality. The panels are reclaimed and do have some signs of age and some slight damage, as expected of antique items. The panels have some marks and stains, especially around the edges where they were fitted into a door. The edges and corners have some small knocks and chips and one panel (cherub with pair of compasses) has a slightly larger knock to the base. The glass will need some further cleaning as there are some spots and marks throughout. Please see pictures for condition details. The etched glass panels are very fine and a lovely example of Victorian design. It is rare to find a pair of Victorian etched panels such as this and they are versatile and very desirable and would be a fantastic show piece for the home.
