M1629 A RECLAIMED BUTCHERS BLOCK AND VICTORIAN PINE BASE FOR KITCHEN

SOLD

Code: M1629

A very interesting and rustic butchers block set on a Victorian pine base. The very heavy and characterful butchers block is likely to be made of hornbeam wood with beach or sycamore outer edges. The block has immense character with cut marks and a shape that has developed through use with the centre worn down. The outer edges have the original tightening bolts and metal corner brackets. The butchers block is likely to be approximately 50 years old. The butchers block is set on to a reclaimed Victorian pine base with a pine tongue and groove shelf. The base and top have been sanded to bare wood and they have a very attractive pale, rustic character. The top could be oiled by purchaser which would change its colour. In the last photograph we have applied water to a corner of the block which would show the approximate colour of the butchers block if an oil is applied. The butchers block is in good solid condition with signs of use that add to its rustic charm. The top has character cut marks and scratches. The metal corner brackets and bolts have some tarnish and surface rust. There are some small gaps between the joins of the outer edges of the block. The base has some filled wood knots, marks and a groove in one leg. The base has some thin surface splits and some dark stains. Please see pictures for condition details. The butchers block has a fantastic rustic appearance and it would make a fascinating showpiece in a home or business.

Please note: The butchers block is very heavy. Please ensure you have a suitable vehicle to collect the block and enough people to transport it.

Please note measurements are approximate due to wear from use.
