A reclaimed, Edwardian, painted cast iron fire surround. The surround has a traditional and classic appearance with a wreath and swag design on the cross bar. The opening has a decorative rope border surrounding it. The surround has been painted cream but there are some knocks, chips and some surface rust and purchaser may wish to have the fire stripped and re-finished to suit, please contact us of you would like any advice regarding this. The fire surround has a model number and RD dating number that is hard to read but we believe it to be RD 474676, dating the fire to 1906. The surround is ideal for pairing with a fire basket or wood burner. The fire surround has two fixing lugs, one on either side, under the mantel and tabs at the base of the feet. The fire surround is in solid antique condition with some signs of age and wear. The back, base of the feet and the back of the mantel have surface rust. The mantel screws are not quite flush. There are some small knocks and chips to the iron. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a lovely traditional appearance that would suit both period and modern properties and would add great character to a fireplace.
