A substantial, reclaimed, reproduction cast iron fire insert. The arched insert is a reproduction of early Victorian styles and is of a simple and classic design with a large arch with borders. The insert has curved front bars with a pretty design at their base and an ash pan cover. The insert has a concrete fire back in very good condition and grill for burning. The iron has been blacked and polished and it has a good finish. The fire insert is in good reclaimed condition with some small signs of use. There are some small scratches, chips and casting marks. The top plate was missing and a replacement has been made using thinner metal. The back has some surface rust and tarnish, as expected. The fire insert is of a large size, ideal for a living or dining room and could be paired with a fire surround. The fire insert is a nice reproduction of period design and its classic style would suit both modern and period homes.
