A pretty, reclaimed, cast iron fire insert for some refurbishment. The fire insert is likely to date to the late Victorian period, 1890-1900, and has a design typical of the era. The insert has a large Adam style motif on the flat smoke hood, featuring an urn, swags and bows. The outer edges of the insert have a pretty repeated flower border and there is a delicate border around the fire opening. The insert retains its original front bars and grill. The back of the insert is quite shallow and therefore good for a hearth with a shallower cavity space. The fire insert is SOLD AS SEEN and is in need of some refurbishment. The iron has been painted and there is some chipping, flaking, white paint residue and surface rust so purchaser will need to strip and re-finish the fire. The concrete fire back has a large crack that will need some fire cement. The top plate is missing. We can try to find a replacement top plate or provide a metal replacement piece if required. Please contact us if you would like this upon purchase. The back of the fire and grill have surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire insert has a very nice traditional appearance and once refurbished will make a lovely feature in a period home.
