A large elegant, reclaimed, Victorian combination fire. The fire is heavy and well made with a beautiful design, ideal for a reception room or large bedroom. The fire has a very ornate smoke hood, in the Brighton Pavilion style, and the legs have an attractive column design. There is dentil moulding under the mantel and leaf designs at the top of the legs. The fire retains its original front bars and grill. The fire has a fixing lug on either side, under the mantel, for attaching the fire to the wall. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a high quality finish. The fire has a registered design number on the back, RD 289386, dating the fire to1896. The fire is in good condition with some slight signs of wear, as expected of antique items. The fire has some small knocks, casting marks and small holes and some light scratches. The mantels screws do not sit totally flush with the mantel. There is an indentation line at the back of the mantel, perhaps from where a mirror sat. The concrete fire back has some chips and knocks. The top plate has some slight damage to one corner. The back has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a wonderful example of Victorian design and it would add fantastic period charm to a fireplace.
