W: 165cm (65")H: 134cm (52.8")

A very elegant and large, reclaimed, original Edwardian cast iron fire surround. The surround is of a fine quality and has a Neo Georgian design with a female cameo in the centre of the crossbar, with swags on either side. There are large urns at the top of each leg and smaller urns with decorative detailing running down the legs. The fire surround has dentil moulding under the mantel. The feet are thick and chunky and the fire is very heavy. The iron has been blacked and polished and the surround has a good colour and fine finish. The back of the surround has a registered design dating number, RD501346, dating the fire surround to 1907. The fire surround is of an impressive size, ideal for a living or dining room and it could be used to surround a wood burner or fire basket or used for decorative purposes. The surround has four fixing lugs, two on either side under the mantel and one on the outside of each foot. The surround is in good antique condition with some small signs of age and wear. The fire surround has some small knocks and scratches from use. There are some visible casting marks and pitting especially to the crossbar. The back has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The surround is a very fine example of Edwardian design and craftsmanship and it would be make a stunning feature for a home.
