M1676 A STUNNING UNIQUE DECORATIVE ART NOUVEAU CAST IRON & OAK SHELF

A stunning and unique handmade shelf created using reclaimed antique materials. The decorative and interesting shelf features a cast iron centre, made using a section from an Art Nouveau fire. The iron section has a very ornate design that is typical of the Art Nouveau era with three stylistic flowers and a thin border. The cast iron has been blacked and polished and is in perfect contrast with the shelf top, made using rustic and characterful reclaimed oak. The oak is thick and of a good quality and has an abundance of rustic charm. The oak has been waxed to give a rich colour and nice finish. The bottom of the shelf has been finished nicely with a further, thinner, strip of oak. The cast iron section has a fixing lug on either side for attaching the shelf to the wall. The shelf is a newly created item using reclaimed materials and they have some interesting and characterful signs of age. The cast iron has some small casting marks and pitting and there are some thin scratches. The back has some surface rust as expected. The oak has some natural wear, scratches, knocks and indentations as expected of reclaimed wood. Please see pictures for condition details. The shelfs cast iron section is a fine example of Art Nouveau design and it is an interesting and special handmade item that would make a truly fantastic feature in a home.
