A very finely hand carved original late Victorian decoy duck. The duck is believed to be elm or perhaps pine and has been made in the traditional fashion, in two halves, with the centre hollowed out that allowed the duck to float. The ducks features are of a high quality and it has a realistic appearance. The base has a leather patch attached to it. The wood has a beautiful grain that is highlighted by the waxed finish. The duck is in good solid condition with some character signs of age, as expected. The duck does have some splits in the wood but it is structurally sound. There are some small knocks, especially to the tail and beak and some damage to one side where there is a deeper crack or knock. Please see pictures for condition details. The decoy duck is the perfect item for a collector or it would make an interesting and quirky décor item for a home or business.
