A large and imposing, reclaimed, painted pine fire surround dating to the early half of the 20th century. The surround has an ornate appearance and its substantial size makes it a very desirable item. The crossbar has a central panel with circle designs on either side. The mantel has a cut out detail and a nicely carved decorative border. There is dentil moulding under the mantel. The legs have a column style design in relief. The surround is pictured with a fire register but please note this is for illustrative purposes and the fire register basket is SOLD SEPERATELY (please see our listing reference FB0098 for details).The surround is in good antique condition with some small signs of age and wear. There are some chips to the paint and some lettering scratched in to the panel on the crossbar. Purchaser may wish to sand and re-paint the surround or touch up the paint in areas if possible. The back of the legs have some missing paint where it sat against skirting board. The wood has some small knocks and chips. Please see pictures for condition details. The surround is a very nice example of period design and craftsmanship and it would make a wonderful addition to a home.
