A very handsome, reclaimed, Edwardian antique mahogany fire surround dating to between 1900 - 1930. The fire surround is of a very fine quality and has a beautiful design with inlayed / marquetry detailing on the crossbar. The inlay is Neo-Georgian is style with ribbons, swags and flowers. There is a rectangular panel in the centre of the crossbar. The legs have carved detailing with reeding. The mahogany has been French polished and the wood has a fantastic colour. The large surround is of an ideal size for a living or dining room. The surround is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of use and age, as expected of antique items. The fire surround has some small knocks and chips. There are some knocks to the corners of the mantel and some of the moulding joins have some slight separation in places. There is some missing moulding on the side of the right hand foot and there are some knocks. There is some residue paint on the sides of the legs, left from where it was previously fitted. The inner edges of the feet have small notches where it was fitted into a hearth. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is of a very fine quality and it is unusual to find such a lovely example. The fire surround is perfect for a period house and would make a real showpiece for a home.
