FC0166 PETITE PAINTED ART NOUVEAU CAST IRON BEDROOM COMBINATION FIRE

SOLD

Code: FC0166

Dimensions:

W: 69.7cm (27.4")H: 94.5cm (37.2")

A very pretty, petite, reclaimed Art Nouveau bedroom combination fire, likely to date to C.1890-1900. The fire has a lovely Adam style design, typical of the period, with swags, bows and a central medallion on the crossbar. The fire has a domed smoke hood with decorative scrolling detail. There are four fixing lugs, two on each side, for fixings so the fire can be attached to the wall. The fire retains its small top plate and decorative front bars. The cast iron has been painted white and a decorative section along the crossbar has been painted light blue. The smoke hood and grill are black. The fire is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of age and use, as expected. The mantel has a knock to the front edge. There are some casting marks and pitting. The paint has some chipping, stains and marks and some surface rust can be seen in places. The grill has some tarnish and the fireback has not been sprayed black. This would need to be done with a heatproof paint (please ask if you require advice). The back of the fire has some surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a very pretty item for a bedroom and would look very nice in a period home, adding character and charm to a fireplace.
