FS0239 RECLAIMED EARLY VICTORIAN PAINTED PINE AND GESSO FIRE SURROUND

SOLD

Code: FS0239

Dimensions:

W: 132.5cm (52.2")H: 125cm (49.2")

A very pretty, reclaimed, painted pine fire surround dating to the early Victorian period. The fire surround has a lovely design, typical of the era, with gesso detailing along the cross bar with swags and bows and fruit and flowers in the corners. The legs each have a recessed panel. The manel has a decorative border around the front edge and sides. The pine has been painted white but the paint has some chips and knocks.

The fire surround has been designed so the crossbar and manel section slots onto the legs when affixed to the wall and the legs were not attached. We have attached some brackets to hold the legs onto the crossbar but these can be removed for transportation if required. The legs have movement but once the fire is fixed to the wall it will be secure. The fire surround has several metal lugs for fixings. The fire surround is in solid condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. The pine has some knocks, chips and small holes. The side of one foot is missing some moulding and the other foot has missing paint. The back of the fire has some gouges in the wood. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a very nice look and is a lovely example of Victorian design, ideal for adding period character to a fireplace.
