A very handsome, reclaimed, Arts and Crafts fire surround dating to the late Victorian period. The surround is of a large size and has a fantastic design with hand carved detailing. There is dentil moulding under the mantel and there are panels along the crossbar with green man carvings in each. The legs have linen fold detail carved into panels. The surround has a thin shelf under the decorative panels along the crossbar, with corbels supporting it. The oak has been waxed and polished and it has a rich colour, highlighting the attractive wood grain.

The surround is in good solid condition with some signs of use and some damage, as expected of reclaimed antiques. The left hand side of the mantel has some damage to the back edge and a cut-out. There are some small knocks and chips in the oak. The feet have some knocks, scratches and splits and the base edges of the feet have some wear. There are some holes where nails have been placed and there is wood filler applied to one hole. There are some white marks to the sides of the feet, from where it was originally sat next to skirting board. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a very interesting appearance and is a fine example of Arts and Crafts design, making it a fantastic showpiece for a home.
